FRENCH POCHOIR HOLIDAY CARD, c. 1920’sClassic Original Art Deco Design!

Pochoir
required the adroit use of pigments and metallic inks applied by hand through finely cut stencils.
This card measures 124 x 153 mm (4 7/8 x 6”), folded.
The lovely scene depicts a lady being greeted by a gentleman while her servant shields her from the snow with an umbrella. The night sky and her carriage off to the left add to the delight of this greeting card!
This Pochoir Holiday Card was made in France, c. 1920’s. “MADE IN FRANCE” printed on the back.
This is an original, nearly 100 years old, not a reproduction, and its condition is excellent, as shown in the photos. The colors are particularly fresh and bright.
The card is unused (blank inside) and without envelope.
The
Pochoir Process
was rejuvenated in France in the 1920’s during the Art Deco era. This expensive stencil color application technique pushed the color illustration processes for books and prints to glorious new heights.
The hand application of layers of pigment created dazzling effects that the camera or printing press could not replicate.
