Large Canton Chinese Export Blue & White Reticulated Basket &
Under plate
Reproduction
Chinese Export Blue and White Canton reticulated Bowl and under-plate
for a fruit/chestnut basket.
Reproduction period, with scenic decoration.
Chinese export Canton is hard porcelain.
Weighs 6 lbs.
There is darkening(dirt) in the hole piercings of both bowl and plate.
The bottom of the bowl is discolored and dark.
I washed the outside gently of both pieces.  The dark areas will clean.
The bottom of the plate reads, " For Decoration  Purposes Only
Not For Food Use Article May Poison Food"
This warning was introduced in the mid 20th century.
This set may be from the 1970's.
There are no chips, cracks or repairs to this set.
There are a couple of manufacture defects in basket where there are
small (1/8") clay cuts in lattice leg in 2 places.
Seen on close inspection.  See pics below.
This set was purchased over 25 years ago from antique shop.
