Vintage 1945 Maryland License Plate, WW2. "498-209", with tabs for '46 & '47

Description

A good 1945 "498-209" as well as Silver Tab [114285]for 1946 & Yellow Tab [894214] for 1947. Sell as set.
Vintage 1945 Maryland License Plate, WW2. "498-209" Maryland calls it “Embossed silver serial on black plate with border line; MARYLAND centered at top; 3-31 at top left and 1945 at top right.” They also say this plate was “Revalidated until March 31, 1946 with silver tabs, then until March31, 1947 with yellow tabs.” We have both of the tabs originally used on this plate in 1946 and 1947, the ’46 one with black serial on silver plate and the’47 one with black serial on yellow plate.
This is a rare finding, the original plate with both of the original tabs to revalidate it for the following 2 years. The tabs were used during World War 2, i
nstead of making a new plate for each year, to conserve metal. We have had this plate since the early 1970s, having found it when we bought the original owner’s house. He was good about preserving his old plates and keeping them dry. We have tried to follow his lead and have treated these plates kindly for 50 years.
These are used, but of great quality and historical value
