It was introduced in 1948. I believe this bottle to be one of the early ones.
Indigo was also sold in bottles labeled as "cologne," so I think that "essence"' may denote a stronger fragrance concentration than the cologne version of this scent.
The bottle is 4 inches tall. It has a gold tone metal screw-on cap. The label on the bottle and on the bottom in tact.
