XL 3 Tier Vintage Chinese Asian Bride Wedding Basket Bamboo Brass Dragon Handle

This is a Chinese lacquered bamboo and wicker nesting wedding or picnic basket. It features two finely woven, large removable stacking trays and one stationary tray. Each corner features three different intricate designs. The long bamboo handle and posts reveal carvings of scholars and blooming florals. It is adorned with brass accents and a brass handle designed with carved dragon heads. Wedding baskets such as this are used by a bride's family on her wedding day, filled with fine things to accompany her to her new home. The baskets are also used often for picnics or for carrying food to family gatherings. This is one of the largest of these baskets, measuring approximately 30” in height (to the top of the handle), 22" in depth and 18" in width. It is in very good condition considering its age, however the bottom wooden piece of the handle appears looser than it once was. The brass shows tarnish and there are some areas where the lacquered finish has been scratched. Please review pictures for best description of condition.
